Artist and school
The Shodai Suetsugu was a smith active during the middle of the Muromachi period, and belonged to the Iwami tradition. He was the son of the famous Sadatsuna, who’s was considered one the heirs of the great master Naotsuna.
Since the Muromachi period, the first generation Naotsuna (1334-1338) has always been considered one of the best pupils of Masamune. His line continued through his son, the Shodai Sadatsuna and many others smiths until the early shintō period.
